With a Fine Arts background, Bridget Parris' creative career has taken her from Painting and Drawing to Product and Fashion Design. As a Product Designer, she has designed Decorative Home Product for Anthropologie, Juliska, Kim Seybert and Pottery Barn Kids. Her understanding of the materials, capabilities and production processes in designing for ceramics, glass, metals, wood, and natural fibers have resulted in the creation of beautiful Tabletop Dinnerware, Glassware and Serveware, Decorative Accessories, Lighting, Frames, Mirrors and Textiles.
Pursuing a degree in Fashion Design at Parson's School of Fashion, Parris expanded her Design skills to include Draping, Patternmaking and Designing for Fashion and Costume. Working for several Design Houses before starting her own Collection "Bridget Parris Couturier" in the Spring Summer '19 season, her gowns have appeared in Vogue Magazine and WWD. The Collection is entirely Made to Order in New York City. "Bridget Parris Couturier" Gowns have graced the Red Carpet for New York City Ballet's Fall Fashion Gala and Martha Graham Dance Company's Spring Gala, she has created special projects with dancers from both companies. In 2023, Bridget was commissioned by NJ Ballet's Artistic Director Maria Kowroski to create a Couture Costume for their production of the "Sleeping Beauty" with the sponsorship of Swarovski. Parris' costume designs enhance the narrative of each character she develops and the story-telling of the performances. She works very closely with the dancers in Fashion and Dance collaborations.
As an Educator, Bridget shares her expertise and love for Art and Design with students ranging in ages from K-12 to University and Adult Education. She has taught courses and programs in Product Design, Drawing, Painting and Fashion Design at such notable Museums and Art Schools as: Parson's The New School for Design, The Rhode Island School of Design, The Cooper-Hewitt Museum, The Guggenheim Museum, and The Museum of Arts and Design.
With a background in Fine Arts and Art History, Parris' work is inspired by the Architecture, Decorative Arts and Paintings she has studied. With an interest in 18th and 19th century historical style, she continues to create original drawings, paintings.
